“Good news”, “Can Jed borrow his pen?” – Many Millwall fans react to new contract news
Millwall has had a shrewd summer transfer so far – and their business hasn’t just ended with signing new players.
Gary Rowett is looking to better finish in 11th place in last season’s Championship, and on paper there seems to be some play-off spots up for grabs and from what we’ve seen the Lions make up to. present this summer, it looks quite promising.
Scott Malone came on a permanent deal after his successful loan from Derby County last season, and he was joined by Arsenal youngster Dan Ballard and Stoke City forward Benik Afobe, who is looking to have a prolific season after spending the previous campaign in Turkey.
There are, however, a number of current players at The Den whose contracts expire next summer and it will be important to tie them up – including star man Jed Wallace – but one of them has now been sorted. .
Quiz: Do you remember the score of the last 15 games of Millwall’s opening day?
This is Ryan Leonard, who remains the club’s record signing who joined in January 2019 from Sheffield United and is a major player in Rowett’s plans, but injuries have disrupted his last two seasons in a Millwall shirt .
The 29-year-old is hoping those bad days are behind him as he has signed a new long-term contract – something Millwall fans seem very happy with.

Good news. Leonard was arguably one of the best players in #Millwall under Gary Rowett.
If there had been no injuries last year, he could have been signed up for POTS. Hope he stays in shape this year https://t.co/Oh7ksaXirC
