Anchor Borrower Scheme has created over 12.5 million jobs -CBN – The Sun Nigeria

No less than 12.5 million direct and indirect jobs have been created through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) anchor borrower scheme.
The bank revealed that it had disbursed N948 billion to 4,478,381 smallholder farmers who were cultivating 5.2 million hectares of farmland across the country.
CBN’s Director of Corporate Communications, Osita Nwanisobi, said this over the weekend during the Bank’s special day at the ongoing 33rd Enugu International Trade Fair.
Nwanisobi further said that the bank specifically disbursed N1.452 billion for 337 major real sector projects in agriculture, manufacturing, services and mining under the Sector Support Facility. real as part of the effort to diversify the country’s economic base.
He listed other interventions the apex bank had taken to revive the economy and create access to credit, saying the CBN had extended the 5% interest rate on all its intervention loans until March. 2023.
He said: “The recently launched Tertiary Institutions Entrepreneurship Scheme (TIES) is an innovative funding model that will create jobs, improve the entrepreneurial ecosystem and support economic growth and development through agribusiness, creative industry, science and technology and information technology/software development.
“The overall objective of the 100 Percent Production and Productivity Policy (PPP) is to boost production and productivity, necessary to transform and revive the productive base of the Nigerian economy.
